The Chiang Mai Homeschool Co-op exists to encourage and equip homeschool families in a Christ-centered environment. (Please see our Statement of Faith.)
- We are Christ-centered – We base the education of our children on the truths of the Word of God, believing that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom.
- We are family-oriented – We affirm that the family has the full responsibility of raising their children. As we gather together, we aim to be an extension of our homes, assisting each other in teaching, and supporting each other in home education.
- We foster fellowship – We offer weekly fellowship for our children with their peers and opportunity for interaction with other adult role models in a safe, positive and orderly environment.
- A weekly Monday ONLY morning gathering meeting for two, 11-week semesters beginning in September and January.
- A parent-run cooperative that is dependent on the full participation of its families.
- Activities and enrichment classes for children ages 6 to 18 (nursery and pre-K activities are available for younger siblings).
- Classes are taught by parents and skilled guests in age/grade-level formats.
- The participating parent must speak English well enough to assist in AND teach a class (this is a requirement for all families that join).
- A variety of classes to allow interests and abilities to flourish, including those not necessarily available in every homeschool (i.e., arts, writing, science experiments) and providing activities dependent on the large group for success (i.e., P.E., drama, speech, foreign language).
- Co-op is not a full-time school, a for-profit group, or a drop-off daycare. One parent is required to stay and participate as a teacher and/or teacher assistant every week and assist with other duties.
- Core subjects will not necessarily be covered and co-op does not propose to fill-in core academic gaps. The purpose is for enrichment only.
- Co-op is not a playgroup or preschool.
- Co-op is not a place to learn the English language.
- Co-op does not provide legal and/or official accreditation or for-credit classes.
