Signing Exact English (SEE) is a manual communication system that visually represents English grammar and vocabulary, created to help deaf and hard-of-hearing children develop English proficiency. Unlike American Sign Language (ASL), which has its own unique grammar and structure, SEE modifies and supplements ASL signs to correspond directly to spoken English, making every part of the English sentence visible. We will cover the alphabet, numbers, vocabulary, and simple conversations using SEE. As we learn together we will seek to understand the culture of another community and appreciate the uniqueness of this language.
