Ages 13 - 18
First Hour
Choice A: Missions in Southeast Asia (Dysart)
God is at work in Southeast Asia drawing people to Himself. After a brief overview of Southeast Asian history, we will study the history of Christian missions in this region of the world. We also plan to invite guest speakers to come and share their stories. Each week we will discuss a few chapters from a lesser known story titled Return of the White Book. This book tells the amazing story of God’s work among the Karen people of Myanmar and Thailand.

Choice B: Worldviews (Carter)
Exactly what is this world? Find out in this introduction to worldviews class! Students will be introduced to some big questions – Why is the world here? What is a human being? Is there a God? Then we will study four competing approaches to answering the big questions: theism, atheism, pantheism and paganism. Finally, we’ll seek to understand the Christian faith as a worldview and compare it to a contemporary secular worldview.
Student Supplies: A4 size folder; A4 pad of lined paper; Bible

Teenage students are allowed to choose one class hour per semester to be a Study Hall. The co-op is screen free so students must bring work that does not require a device to complete.

Choice A: Movie Production (Stream) - Waitlist
This course will serve to introduce students to the general process of movie production from start to finish. Students will learn, in a highly interactive and participatory manner, the basic concepts of scriptwriting, casting, location scouting, pre-production planning, lighting and sound design, film techniques, editing, movie effects, marketing, and distribution. There will be smaller class projects to complete and students will put their learning to use by producing a final class project.
Student Supplies: Notebook; Some weeks 1-3 students will be asked to bring cell phones or iPads for filming the movie
Choice B: Classic Film Appreciation (Vess)
During the golden era of Hollywood (1930s - 1950s), stars and film-makers were true masters of their craft. In this class, students will develop an appreciation for the artistic beauty of many films from this era. Students will walk away from this class with an understanding of key genres, as well as the names and faces of significant actors and actresses. They might even become a fan of classic cinema!

The objective of this class is to develop badminton skills such as: holding the racquet, racquet grip, serving, strokes, footwork, stances, hand-eye coordination, timing and rhythm, perception anticipation, and the rules of the game. The students will learn to play in pairs, doubles, and tournament games, as well as games such as Attack and Defend, Ping-Pong Badminton, Around the World, and King of the Court.

Choice B: Frisbee Games (Doblin)
For the Frisbee Games and MORE class, students will enjoy an 11-week orientation into all the exciting games and activities that can be done with frisbees. From Ultimate to Kan Jam and Disc Golf to Polish Horseshoes, students will have fun learning how to play various sports and games with frisbees.

The class will immerse students in the world of Thai food! The students will learn how to cook simple, common Thai dishes, which includes learning the names of the cooking ingredients, cooking methods, and how to order dishes from a Thai restaurant or street food stall. The students will also try and learn the names of Thai snacks and fruits, so when they go to the market they know what the foods are called and what they taste like.

We will practice different types of washes, how to use different values to create the effects of light and shadow, some color theory, and techniques for creating texture.

In this class we will visit a different country in Europe every week. Just like real tourists, we will engage all 5 of our senses as we learn about the widely diverse cultures and customs that are represented on this small continent.

The students will use Lego bricks to learn the basics of engineering. We will learn basic engineering mathematics through classwork and building bridges, skyscraper, cars, and a crane from Legos.
Student Supplies: None (We need a couple students to bring a bag full of random Lego pieces. We will keep them separate so not to mix them with others Legos. Contact me Jeremy Adams if you have some we can use.)

Dribble, pass, defend and shoot! Come and learn how to play floorball with us! Floorball is a type of hockey played wearing shoes instead of skates and the puck is a whiffle ball. Students will play various games and run drills to learn the fundamentals of the sport. They will also get to enjoy some time scrimmaging to learn teamwork.
Student Supplies: Shoes or strap on sandals (no flip flops they will most likely break); Comfortable clothes for running around the gym; Water bottle
Choice B: Insects (Turner)
In this class, the students will learn about insects. Each week, the children will study a different insect’s traits, life cycle, and the things they do. There will be an art project or a game/activity to go with each lesson. Some weeks the students will have a snack based on the lesson.

We will do an experiment/hands-on demonstration each class to show how different systems in our bodies work and gain a new appreciation of God as Artist & Creator.

Students will be introduced to the flags and locations of countries around the world! Each week we will play games to learn to recognize the flags.
